World expos can be monster-sized – so it makes sense that some would actually have monsters.

At Expo ’70 in Osaka, Asia's first world's fair, parts of the movie “Gamera vs. Jiger” took place on the world’s fair site. In fact, the expo itself was plot of the plot; when an ancient statue (“Devil's Whistle”) is used as part of the expo’s attractions, the sculpture draws the attention of Jiger and the giant turtle-like Gamera. A highlight of the ensuing battle royal on the expo grounds occurs when Gamera sticks telephone poles in his ears to dampen Jiger’s screeching sonic attack on him.
